Final Storyboard

These is my final story-board.
I decided to create it by hand to portray Bass's style as he creates and draw's by hand.
I used water-colours for the background but if i could change one aspect of it i would scan my drawings in and then add the colours on photoshop or either illustrator.
1. The first scene is of the movie title and the director. I want it to spin and shrink into the next slide.
2. The next scene is of Alice first spotting the White Rabbit and following it to the hole she falls down.  This is a medium shot as it does not show Alice's whole body.
3. This next scene is meant to interpret Alice falling down the hole. I want this scene to portray the action of moving. This is a long shot.
4. This scene represents the scene where Alice shrinks/grows after eating/drinking the 'drink me' potion and 'eat me' cake. This is a long shot.
5. This scene is showing the blue caterpillar smoking. This is a long shot as it shows the whole body of the caterpillar. The actors name who plays the voice at the caterpillar is floating in the smoke.
6. This is the cheshire cat and i have displayed the actors name who plays the cats voice in his teeth. I think this is quite affective. This is a close up and i want it to become an extreme close up as the cameras zooms into the actors name/cat's teeth.
7.This scene represents the mad hatter's tea party hence the tea cups and top hats. Long shot.
8. This scene is to represent the Queen of hearts. Medium shot.
On the whole, I am pleased with my final storyboard.

Movie Title

This show's my rough ideas for my movie title.

Mood Boards

My mood boards explore a few different themes within Alice in Wonderland. I have used pinterest as my research source. I have looked at playing card designs; creatures; colours &design; tea party and other props.

Line Drawings

Here are a few of my line drawings which I will be using for my final storyboard.

1st Storyboard

This is a rough idea of what my storyboard will look like. I have added annotations to show what is happening in each clip. I am now going to develop my rough ideas and start drawing out my final storyboard.

Saul Bass Research

Here is some visual ideas for my chosen film: Alice in Wonderland in the style of Saul Bass, which is the graphic designer we are focusing on in this project. Saul Bass's style is simple and he uses geometric shapes. Bass focuses on hand drawing so I have chosen to mainly draw by hand for this project. Bass started off doing film posters such as the ones below and then he went into film work - creating opening titles for films such as The Incredible's. Bass captures the mood of the film with simple shapes and images. His unique style is recognizable and memorable.

Sketches

Here are some quick sketches which I did whilst watching Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

'Y tool'

Here is my Y tool. This tool allows me as the designer to visual what it would be like to be Alice. It allows me to explore what I would see, hear and feel. This tool allows me to gain ideas from a different angle compared to the brain-storm.

Brain-storm

Here is my Alice in Wonderland brain-storm. I brainstormed 4 different areas; objects, plot, settings and characters. We worked in a group for this activity to gain as many ideas as possible.
I choose to do Alice in Wonderland because there is a lot of ideas I could explore and I felt like I could refer back to Tim Burton and Lewis Carroll's version.
